In May 1930 a little known typist from Hull took off from Stag Lane, Corydon, England and flew solo all the way to Australia with little more than a few maps and a compass.

When she landed she was astonished that the whole world wanted to know who she was. That 5’4” girl was Amy Johnson. She went on to make record breaking flights and pioneered the way for women to entering into male dominated vocations like engineering.

Amy learned to fly at the London airplane club in Stag Lane as well as becoming the first female ground engineer in Britain. She achieved this under the mentoring of Jack Humphrey’s.

Jack nurtured Amy into a competent and professional engineer. The time they spent together in the hanger would have a lasting effect on their lives.

Amy was drawn to Jack for the patience and support he showed for her. At a time when a woman’s place was in the home, she never forgot the risks Jack took in taking her under his wing when she entered a man’s world.

Jack, on the other hand, fell hopelessly in love with the tenacious northern girl who eventually became know as The Queen of the Air.

It seemed inevitable that their mutual attraction would lead to something wonderful but circumstances and fate conspired against them.

Based on true events in the life of Amy Johnson, the famous aviatrix.

This is a story of people struggling to make the right decisions in their lives, during turbulent times and ultimately dealing with the consequences.
